After class on Monday I was really interested in learning more about los actos and the theatre that surrounds them. I wanted to see some more performances and pieces so I turned to the one and only Youtube. I then came across a really fun performance that included los actos, but with a neat twist. In this video they incorporated cirque de soleil.
This clip is just part one. Some characteristics that really stood out to me was the use of masks and dance in the performance as well as music. The concept behind the masks really intrigued me. The use of masks represents that one person can play multiple characters. The use of mimes is also in this specific piece. The passion and drive is 100% shown with all the costumes, attitude, music, and movement.
Los actos relates to the classroom because of what we covered in class on Monday. Teatro Campesino, UFW, and Chicano/Chicana support the historical context for the development of the 1960's. I look forward to creating my own take on this subject in class tomorrow with my fellow classmates!
