Mondays class had to thinking. The performances of the two people in the cage reminded me of caged animals. Not just any caged animal, but the ones specifically that are kept at zoo's for entertainment purposes.
The thought of taking animals from their natural environment to sit in a small dense area for our own sake just does not sound right. In my eyes this is a political problem that we need to clear up. Since the animals do not have a say, the people who are trying to protect and save these animals are fighting. The sad faces that these animals make is bad enough. People who think that they have it better at zoo's then their own habitat are wrong and hiding from reality.
This website relates to class, because there is a clear message that is trying to get across. If the animas could stand up for themselves against our government here in the United States as well as from the countries they come from I am sure they would. It is our job (animal lovers) to help these living animals rest in peace, in their original place of being.
Interesting that the piece sent you toward animals and animal rights. I think they imagine it working in the opposite way. Thinking about the treatment of human beings as animals. I think you raise some interesting points. Could you do something performative to address animal rights?
